Thrustmaster service downgraded

Since Thrustmaster has implemented their new "improved" customer service
system,  (Im wondering if they and TEN have been working together on
customer service!), there is no way to order pots.

The only item they let you order is a set of springs and they limit you
to 1 set!

Anyways...  I know many of you have ordered pots from digikey.  Does
Radio Shack sell pots that can be used with the TM NPro??   If so...
what is the part number??

One thing is for sure...  Im definitely never buying another TM
product.  I almost bought a SuperSport wheel just for racing N2 but was
holding off until I could buy a digital wheel after N2 dies on TEN in
September/October.

I guess I was educated and trained in the old business school where
customer service was a top priority.   Now days companies are
implementing some of the worst customer service policies I have ever
seen.  (TEN of course is one of the leaders).   They set up automated
systems and pretty much forget about it.  Heck,  TEN doesnt even have
automated responses to let you know that they received your email.  I
suppose its easier for them to deny they ever received your email that
way.  *shrug*

Well,  enough complaining about that topic =)

Thanks for any info,

Scott

Scott,

It is time for you to get a TSW or ECCI. Either is well worth the $ and you
dont have to worry about... springs, bungee cords, cheap pots, aggravation,
bad customer service and never knowing "when" the spring will break. I think
you can get a TSW for less than $300 or an ECCI for uhh... a lot<G>.

Thanks Scottie,

Im well aware of the TSWs and ECCIs <G>   TSWs are well worth the money and
ECCIs are built like a tank.  However,  I refuse to spend $1000+ for a wheel
when the pedals make you feel like you are driving the tank ;)    Im holding off
a bit because Im waiting to see what develops in the next few months as far as
sims, force feedback, etc.   I may go buy a Logitech FF wheel soon to give it a
shot and then do a mass overhaul of my NPro to use with N2 on TEN.

I actually like the pedal unit of the NPro (Especially if you buy the ProPedal
upgrade kit) so I will use those with the Logitech wheel.

Thanks,
Scott

I emailed them and asked for a new pot for my steering wheel. I got it
in a week with pots for the pedals, too. Great customer support, I
think. :)

About a month ago, I got a complete set of pots for my TQS throttle
and one for my FLCS stick... It took about 6 weeks, since they
said that the overseas factory was behind on shipments, but then
they simply arrived in my mailbox. No cost, whatsoever.

I had to physically call them on the phone to get this to happen.
Emailing supprt gets you nothing but the auto-requestor form,
or it used to.

They are a very good (and unique) company when it comes to
customer service, IMO.

Ed,

The old system IMHO was much better.  I really have a dislike for their new
system.  Its less useful to the customer.   Before I could send a comment on
what I needed, now I have to just select from the limited options they give me
which is only springs.

I agree, but after a phone call (on my nickel) I eventually got
what I needed, for free. They aren't perfect, by any means,
but I have had less luck dealing with other mfrs..

I have to agree, I still get good service from Thrustmaster. In fact it's
the only reason I'm still using my TM controller.

Ed,

Not to be stickler or anything ;)

BUT...   if they will send you the part after you spend your money on a phone call,
wouldnt it make sense to just offer the part on the page you order parts from ???

I guess I just see a flaw in the philosophy:  "No, we don't offer that part on our
web site customer service section.  But hey,  if you spend money to call us with a
long distance phone call we will be happy to send you the part you requested."
<VBG>

Again, just my opinion.  Customer service is suppose to get easier, not more
difficult. <G>

Prior to their new system,  I was very impressed with their response time and
customer service.  I would just fill out my information and type what I needed.  I
got a confirmation email and I had the parts in 7 to 10 days if not sooner on many
occasions.
