Modem play and NFS SE

Nobody asked but I will give some tips to improve modem play.  I have
played solo for a long time and when I decided to play with one of my
friend via modem I experienced major slow-down.  It was really
frustrating because the handling was then very poor.

The first thing I did that helped is to turn off the music.  Turning
the volume down wont do the trick.  You need to set the music to NONE.
It helped a little for the overall game.

The next thing to do, which gives the MOST impressive gain in speed is
to turn down a lot of details.  I know it sounds obvious but in solo
play everything was fine in full detail on my Pentium-133.  Turning
off most of the details improved by 10x the speed for modem play (no
latency at all) and solo play was improved too (geez, I broke the best
time for Autumn Valley by more than 20 seconds. Not bad for a newbie!)

That's it.  Nobody asked for it but because I had problem with modem
play I though maybe other people had and just give up on trying.

ciao
