I can only say to you that you can find Pocono and North Wilkesboro tracks
on your NR99 CD in the NROS section. As for the other, I don't support
piracy.

"People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise

Now, I'm no lawyer, nor student of law, nor know anyone close to me that
practices law. However, it would seem to me, as a "reasonable" human being
(as reasonable as a racing sim nut can be I suppose), that "piracy" is only
such if you attempt to sell a packaged and sealed copy of NR1999 and/or N2,
and you include in the setup process Indy, Daytona, and any other tracks that
did not come with NR1999 and/or N2 and its related BGN expansion pack. Now
this would involve, at the very least, a knowledge of programming so that your
setup/install process would properly install such tracks, a "writable" CD-ROM
drive as well as "burnable" CD's, and a shrink-wrap machine to seal the CD's
jewel case. If you wanted to go even further, you would also need
professional printing and production equipment to alter your game's manual so
that these tracks are included in the manual, and you might even want to get
ol' Bobby Labonte himself (or whoever it was that made comments in the manual
about the various tracks) to give his statements on Indy and Daytona, if you
can track him down, if you can get an appointment with him, and if he doesn't
ask any questions or gets suspicious.
But if you just want to download the various tracks that are not included with
the game, I feel that is not piracy, and a good website is
http://members.xoom.com/RACELANE99/
So sue me Francois.

np, those are called "issues" ;-)
Selling, trading or giving is the same here. Papyrus's code is under
copyright by themselves, and the only way you can own a code, a track, a
sound, anything from any Papyrus racing simulations would be to buy it.
Somehow, even if you distribute tracks for free you are in the illegality.
Of course Papyrus was alot more strict back in the days, but now nobody at
Papyrus or Sierra cares about those track downloads. Unless its the real
Daytona that Papyrus made, but that's "another" thing I won't go into :)
Well there is no things "less piracy" than others, but there is things that
are more accepted by people. Like I said, I don't really support piracy,
since I own all the Papyrus software except NR99, but if I would want a NR99
track in N2 I would simply go buy the software and convert it with the
existing tools. Like for the Brickyard I actually was able to find an Icr1
expansion disk, so now it's legal for me to have it in any other titles like
N1, N2, Icr2, GPL, etc.. Btw, tracks like the BB&B ones are legal since
they include no coding from the Papyrus Design Group Inc. Technically if we
go by the law that's how it is.
Im sure people remember the Brickyard r.a.s. incident almost hmm 4years ago
now :)

Right, managed to find Indy (despite Francois' warnings I pressed on
regardless) but still can't find Pocono. If anybody has it and would like to
sen it on (anonymously, of course!!) I'd be grateful.
Thanks
Bom
Like I said, you will find Pocono and North Wilkesboro (two tracks that are
in N2 but not in NR99) on the Nascar Racing : 99 Edition CD-Rom. Look into
the /NROS/Tracks section, you will find it there ;)

A well written posting. Piracy is uploading a packaged product. Adding
various tracks that ought to be in the N99 game, but due to various licensing
agreements, are not, is well within the rules, as can be seen by how many
people have these tracks and race on them.

Technically you would have to wait until the copyright expires I think...
but seriously, I have tons of abandonware on my PC and someday I will create
a racing sim abandonware site if I ever have time. My count was 80racing
games from the 1980's, plus about 30 or so Im still searching (pictures and
text only) for.
Go ahead and upload it, the track pack is a ok thing IMHO from a POV where
it's impossible anymore to find it unless somebody auctions it on Ebay or
such. You can still find Icr1 in stores in bargain bin, so for that it's up
to the person to decide if it's abandonware or not (IndyCar Racing, not the
track packs). Btw you got the two Expansion disk ? :)

This is the Tampa link. The main link appears dead. But it worth a try.
I just bought the Indy track pack. There is a company called
***Exchange....they are a chain of used software vendors. You make a
request and they find it for you. I paid like $15.00 for it, but now I have
it for always and forever.

GREAT info -- if you don't want to bother converting the track to ICR2, you
can download it at:

Enjoy!

OK, I'm uploading it to alt.binaries.simulators.auto.
And if by the 'two Expansion disk' you mean the other expansion pack, yes,
it's there too. I am SOOOO glad I begged my dad that day in Incredible
Universe :D

I don't have the second disk. What's on the second disk? I bet it's
Daytona.... And you keeping it from me....
Please tell me...
Thank You.
The Mocker
Actually the second disk "is" the Indianapolis Expansion disk with the
Paintkit.
IndyCar Racing 1 didn't had all the tracks when released. The same
happened with N1, it only had IIRC 9tracks, Icr1 had 6tracks. The first
expansion disk added the whole rest of the IndyCar PPG Calendar of the I
think 1993 season. I think it was hmm Detroit, Nazareth, Elkart, Vancouver
and Toronto. Not 100% sure.
