GPL and lap timing

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but you are driving around, and then
crash or go of the road,
the lap timing doesn't seem to reflect this. It's like it stops until you
get back on the road.

Is something wrong with the lap timing in GPL?

Thanks, Anthony

Are you implying that your times for a fast clean lap are the same as if
you crash 3 or 4 times? If that was the case wouldn't newbies be doing 7
min ring laps in the cov?

I think you need to drive faster :)

btw, depends on the track. A crash at Watkins Glen means a 1.15-1.20 lap
instead of a 1.07 but if you crash at Nurburgring, the circuit is so
long that you can sometimes pick up the time over the rest of the lap.

are you getting confused with you laptime being given to you and the end of
the lap, and not at the end of the next lap......

No - I wonder if you might be being confused by the pitboard showing
the time for your previous lap - unless you make the tweaks shown
here:
http://www.***jeans.de/gpl/Pitboard.htm
You can always check that by viewing replays (which also will show the
laptime previous to the one you are watching, of course).

I am quite sure my times include "off"s.

(That pitboard thing is taking realism a bit too far - after all,
realism demands that I should have several broken legs by now!. I
would love an onboard timer like GP3 - especially during races, where
you get nowt at all!).

Doesn't happen here.  If I crash or go cross country rallying, my lap times
suffer like you wouldn't believe.

The time shown to you on your pit board is for the previous lap, not the
current lap.

I know three people have already provided the answer to this question, but
hey, it wouldn't be usenet it we didn't have ten people unnecessarily
posting the same thing ;)

The lap time is not for the lap you just finished, but for the one before
that, seriously.  The reason - no instant digital timing in 1967.  If you
want to know the time of the lap you've just done, hit F2 and have a look.

Thanks all.

I worked it out straight after I posted this message.
When you are used to GP2/3, these things are the furthest from your mind.

Thanks all again
