there won't be... last I heard, no one is going to make a Indycar sim
because of the breakup of CART and IRL.
If they find a way to get back together, then perhaps we might see a sim.  I
personally wouldn't mind seeing a remake of the Indy500 Racing Sim that
orginally came out back in the (80's?)

Well, many of us got hooked on PC racing with that one, but
nowadays think about this: any likelihood people would buy a racing
sim with only ONE track and 3 cars?  Maybe if they'd model the ENTIRE
Indy500 experience it'd sell (winner's circle, drive to the garage
area, etc.), but I'd think they'd be vilified here for only a single
track!

Well, could they work on a patch for it possibly so we get like 800X600
resolutions, textures, and 3d acceleration or something?  Just to make it less
of an eyesore?  :)

Wherever you got your information from, you need to send it back.  Its not a
sim, but nonetheless the Dreamcast will have a nice looking arcade CART
racer on it.  Microsoft still has a license to CART and so does Papyrus in
addition to Sega.

not so sure about that myself, if they made a HUGE game, like that if you
REALLY wanted you could do the months practice etc, and perhaps you have to
pass rookie test etc i would love it, and 500 miles too yyyyeeeeeeee
haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I am talking about the fact that there is no CART simulation that has the
Indy500 in it!!
There was one cheesy game by ABC sports called Indy500: The experience.
They had it all over the Indy track last year (or was it the year before?).
Like I said, the last I heard, no one is going to make an 'indycar' sim
because of the break ups!!  You misunderstood... I didn't say CART, I said
Indycars.  There is a difference now.. remember?  IRL races indycars, CART
races CART cars. you can't call them indycars if they never GO to Indy now
can you?

Just imagine.. you have to start by earning enough money to get yourself a
team.  You have to 'roleplay' with sponsors.  Then you can practice.. your
car, test it in the wind tunnel..etc.  Finally, the big day comes and the
game makes it as though you are really on the track.  You can walk ala Quake
engine to your car... get in your car.. etc..  That would be too cool!

Why not have one track in different eras. Such as:

1911-challenge Ray Harroun
1919-the Birckyard after the war
1940-Indy during the Depression
1946-Hulman takes over
1965-Indy in tye-dye
1986-IMS turns 75
1995-the last true 500

And have cars race in their respective eras. Now I would buy that!

Cheers,
Eric Brighton

Dan,

Papyrus in all likely hood,is done with ICR2. They currently have more
work than they can handle with Nas3 and Nascar Legends.

Damn fine idea, except that you-know-who in his Ivory Tower in Indianapolis,
would never go for it unless it included the Irrelevent Racing League ;-)
