Thrustmaster Digital Pro 2?

by bif198 » Wed, 15 May 2002 05:44:44

I have a question for anyone who has this wheel and has this problem.  I
currently have the Thrustmaster Digital Pro 2 wheel.  A couple of weeks
ago the Accelerator pedal stopped responding.  Shaking the base
indicated a part was rattling around.  I took the base apart and found
that the black cog that went on the variable resistor came off.  Now my
question is: When putting the cog back on should the variable resistor
be turned all the way in one direction or the other?  I have also found
that the Brake does not give a nice smooth response.  I get no responce
from the pedal until 3/4 depressed.  Does this resistor need adjusted
also?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Yes its important.  I have the T2, not your wheel, but this will
probably take you a couple trial fits to get right.  You want both the
potentiometer and pedal to have full travel, and the potentiometer should
never come up against its stop before the pedal does.  You could break the
pot by stomping on the pedal otherwise.  Which direction the pot needs to be
turned is easily determined by a trial fit, and leave a little wiggle room
on the pot so the pot wiper doesn't get too close to the stop.

I'm not sure what the problem here is, tho you may need a new pot.
Examine its operation as you move the pedal back and forth, and try spraying
inside the pot with a tuner cleaner.  If this improves it, you will
eventually need a new pot so think about ordering them.  I'd order new pedal
springs at the same time.

Roger,

Thanks!  I didn't think about the stops.  I was able to get the pedals working
last night and they seemed to work very well.  I thought about the using the
tuner cleaner but I was not sure if that would damage the potentiometer.  I was
wondering if I needed new ones.  When I ohm'd them out I noticed that the Brake
one went higher on the meter than the Accelerator and I wondered if that was the
start of needing them replaced.

So far the springs seem really good.

Do you know where I can get the potentiometers from?  I thought about just going
to Radio Shack but I was not sure if they would have the correct ones.  I did
not see them on the Thrustmaster site but I will look again.

Thanks for the reply,
