I agree, do you tell and open up a whole new area for cheating, or do
you keep quiet and hope that not too many others have found the same
hole as you have, people who don't mind using *any* advantage to win

Personally I don't care about cheating much, I hate cheaters, but I
don't let it get to me, and since I usually only race with people I
respect and trust and whom I'd never even consider to be cheaters, then
it's of no importance to me personally, I'm just enjoying it for what it
is

I'm sure this number is what they are tracking through Sierra's matching
service, what about all the IP-only league servers out there. We haven't
used the arena method to connect in any of the leagues I have run since N3.
Surely that would bump the number up some....probably to at least double.
The smart leagues KNOW that there will surely be a night or two when the
arena will have crashed or be otherwise unreachable. That and the flawed
online stats keeping they use is enough to drive the serious leagues OFF the
public arena and into private IP-only situations. I don't think they can
calculate the number of users online that don't go through the open arena
fiasco, double negative aside ;-)

Maybe, but the leagues are still passworded, right?  What's the difference if
they run on Sierra.com?  Non-members still can't ge in to muck things up...

Even if you race IP, I'm sure a majority of those drivers have at least
created a login for Sierra.. thus they are included in the number of serial
numbers registered for WON.

Although I don't disagree with your reasoning of why you would race IP only.
