Dear All,
Has anyone worked out yet, at what point does the randomiser which
decides whether your car is going to break down during a race actually
do its randomising? What I mean is, I have noticed that if I qualify for
a non-championship race, and then save the game with my car sitting on
the grid, if I start the race, and my engine blows mid-way through, when
I re-start, it does exactly the same thing. I also saved a race part-way
through and got a puncture two laps later. When I reloaded the game,
exactly the same thing happened.
All this would seem to indicate that whatever decides that you're going
to have technical problems has already made its decision by the time
you're on the grid. It also seems to decide both the fault and the lap
by this point.
What I would like to know is, if I save a game *after* I have qualified
but *before* I enter the "race" section, has the "random decision" been
made by that point? The reason I ask is not to cheat, but with the
original f1gp I had high-qualified races saved after qualifying so that
I could go into 100% races, still allowing me to keep the normal "quick
race" length at something sensible like 10%.
If anyone has sussed this out (or if anyone even cares...!) I'd love to
hear your thoughts.
Best wishes,
Gareth Marlow
