GP2, ACM Game Card, PnP Soundbl-Problems

by Hermann Kau » Tue, 01 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I want to play GP2 with an ACM Game Card under DOS. In my computer is
a Pnp Soundblaster 32 and there is no Jumper to unable its Gameport. I
really don't know what to do.
Is there anybody out who could help me ?
What do I have to do under DOS ?
What do I have to do under WINDOWS ?

Thanks a lot,

Hi Hermann,

Run GP2 from DOS then you can use your ACM gamecard without a
problem. You won't be able to use your ACM gamecard in windows95 unless
you can shut off your pnp gameport. Thrustmaster has some suggestions
at their website to try, none of which worked on my system. I always run
my racing sims in the dos mode anyway.    Steve

You need to disable the gameport on your Soundblaster.  Since there are
no jumpers you need to do this via software.  I think Creative Labs uses
CTCM  to do this.  Check out the following URL's and hopefully you will
find all you need to accomplish this.

Hermann,

You should be able to go into Device Manager, then under Sound disable it
from there.

Hi Kauer,

don't know what to do. Is there anybody out who could help me ? What do I

I assume that you're using Windows 95.

Go to  Start>Settings>Control Panel
Select  System
Select  Device Manager
Select Sound, video and game controllers ( expand it if necessary )
Select Gameport Joystick ( for the sound card, not the ACM card )
Check the checkbox Disable in this hardware profile

That should disable the soundcards gameport leaving the ACM game ports
active.

This short explanation doesn't cover every contingency but you should get
the idea.
