Win 2000 Pro and race sims

Just bought a new HD and trying to decide between putting Win98 SE back on
or switching to Win 2000 Pro. GPL and SCGT run great with my AMD system and
Win98 SE.  Does anyone have any experience running either of these two games
under Win 2000?  I hear good things about Win 2000 but if I can't run these
two great sims, Win98 it has to be.

Thanks for any advice

The best advice I could offer is to dual boot.
I can use GPL and N4 along with several other games ok on Win2000, but they
just feel smoother on win 98 (win ME at the moment, but it runs like 98 as
far as *** is concerned)

Use 98 for games and 2000 for all the other stuff that needs more stability
and/or security.

Cool, then what I'd like to do is put Win98 on the new hard drive and
Win2000 on my old one. So, essentially, starting with 2 blank drives what
would  be the best way to accomplish this goal? I've never considered two
OS's but I think it may be the best solution. If anyone knows of a site with
comprehensive details or if anyone could take the time to jot down the
steps, I follow instructions very well. I've got two HD's, I might as well
make the best use of them.

I've been using Windows XP RC1, and so far N4 has been fine.  The sound from
the SB Live is a bit scraggly, but what else is new.  SBLive is SBLive.  The
only reason it's still in there is I had to remove my GTXP due to lack of
drivers under XP.

Once that's fixed, out comes the SBLive asap.

Viper Racing also installs under Windows XP RC1.  No more installer errors.
It runs fine, at the highest frame rates I've EVER seen out of Viper Racing,
but there are some serious audio issues.  Not sure if that's a SBLive or
Viper Racing issue, though.

No issues whatsoever for GPL.  Works perfectly, and frame rates are nearly
pegged at 36fps all the time.  Same slight audio distortion, though.

SCGT is next...

I'm no windows guru, but had absolutely no problems setting up a dual boot
with 98 (orME) and Win2000.
Install Win98 first (Thats important), say to your C drive and let it
complete. Then do a new Win 2000 installation on the D drive. When that is
complete, at each boot up you will be given the option of which OS you want
to start for 30 seconds, after which if you don't select one it will default
to Win 2000. This can be easily changed by right clicking on My Computer in
win 2000 selecting advanced / startup and recovery where you can select the
default OS and time delay.

I would always keep the programs for each OS on the appropriate HD to keep
track of where everything is ;)

Tanks Ian and Larry for the great info.  I'm going to take a crack at it
this afternoon.
