F1 200x multiplayer connection speeds

I'm flooding as many forums and newsgroups I can find with this subject.
Forgive me if you've already seen it.
For those of you racing online with the F1 200x sims/mods.(all 45 of you!)
Try setting your connection to only 56k.  This reduces the amount of data
the server has to try and flood your way.  If the host and all the drives
set thier connection speed to 56k, it usually saves a shakey conncection.
You can still overload a server's pipeline...the ISI sims demand a huge
bandwidth for up and or downstream connections.  But by choosing the lower
speed(56k) you can ease the burden on the serve and smooth out online play.
Remember EVEN those users who have mega fat broadband connections....set
your ingame menu item to 56k.

Makes sense.  Our Half-Life/DoD clan has a server on a "pro service"
cable line (3.5 mbps down/384 kbps up), and we have to do essentially
the same thing in order to keep it playable.  In Half-Life and most
other shooters though you can enforce this from the server side, the
clients don't even have to know about it.  We chop everybody's rate down
to 3000 bytes/sec and very few people ever notice the difference.  Would
be nice if you could force that from the server in F1 2Kx.
