F1RC & Win2K

Hi all,
Tried out F1RC under Win 2000 yesterday and although installation went
fine whenever I tried to start a race or training session I was bumped
straight back to my desktop once the loading screen had completed.

Any ideas what may be causing this and are there any others who have
had the same problem and managed to find a way around it.

System:-

AMD Athlon 1.2ghz (VIA Apollo chipset based mb)
512mb RAM
V5 5500 AGP 64mb
MSFF Wheel

Nascar 4 has worked fine so far but the only game I have tried has
been Links 2001 which also had no problems.

Regards

PH

If you installed the ServicePack2 (I did) You might try running it in
compatibility mode. You do this by right-clicking on the SHORTCUT,
then go to properties/compatibility.

If you don't want to install SP2 or dont have it, you might want to
try running it in compatibility mode using the APCOMPAT.EXE
tool found in your windows 2000 CD in the /support directory.

Other than that, I don't know.

I use win2kpro+sp2+DX8 and it does not crash for me after I get the
game running, although it does crash or quit sometimes when I first
start up the game before any screen shows up.

Thanks for that info... I installed SP2 yesterday night but even then
I still didn't get this compatibility option... however, I did get
F1RC running by using ACOMPAT.EXE as you suggested.

Any idea why I don't get the compatibility option though... I right
clicked on the shortcut and on the actual exe file but all I get is a
general and shortcut tab for the shortcut and a general and version
tab for the exe.

At least F1RC is now running though...

Cheers
