I read the manual, and have a setup that permits me to run NFS, Duke
Nukem, Doom, Doom II, and so on and so on--there are no DOS programs I
can't run under my various custom Win95 settings.
When attempting to install NFS-SE under DOS 7, I get 4 lines of the
DOS/4GW message, the screen goes blank, and my computer locks up enough
to require a cold boot.
You people out there having problems running NFS-SE are lucky, I can't
even get the installation program to run!!!
Since there is nothing wrong with my setup, I can only assume that it is
a unique manufacturing error in my CD.
Unfortunately, EA decided to wait until July 3 to mail my copy (though
it was ordered the previous week), so the holiday weekend slow down
screwed timely delivery. Now, they have failed to respond to my request
for assistance or a replacement in a timely fashion--all necessitated
because I had to order through them to get the ***y upgrade at a still
inflated price. Of course, as the discussion here as noted, the only
other alternative for NFS owners is to pay full price--not likely for a
couple of minor upgrades. If I was able to buy NFS II, which is what
should have been released by now, I could have bought it at my local
software outlet, and returned it and be using a functional copy by now.
Anyone else experience this utter lack of functionality?
