GPL: GPL Movie studio difficulties

by Steve Sarll » Wed, 25 Apr 2001 14:28:52

I'm trying to make some movies from a replay of a race in GPL.
Whenever I try to do this with GPL Movie Studio it says that it can't
open test0000.pbf and never gets past that.  I've followed the limited
help provided with the prog and am fairly certain I'm doing everything
properly.  Anyone familier with this bit of software?  Is there a
better way of doing this?

Thanks in advance

You can't take screenshots with d3d or opengl rasterizers. GPL Movie Studio
uses screenshots to make those movies. You'll have to use Hypersnap to
capture the screenshots and use a program to make the movie from those
shots.

Yes but wait - I'm quite positive there's another movie maker for GPL
which does work in d3d mode - I'll ask around and mail the url here if
I can find it.

I posted this a few days ago :

Even better than that, the rpy2avi program found here :
 http://www.racesim.net/pagpers/balzus/index.htm
Will create a movie directly from a replay. Essentially you
run it, setup the params, click a button to launch GPL
then whilst viewing a replay you press various Function
keys to record/stop/alter record speed (i.e. slomo). Takes
a bit of time but results are very good.
