What is the easiest way to use different cars for different online leagues
with N4?
Basically say you want a different car number and car file for different
leagues, how do you change these easily before you connect to the specific
league server?

I have a similar question about the user painted and driven cars....

I currently have two and in some cases three cars with the same car
number.  an example, I painted my own car and use the car number 1.  Also, I
think one of the default N4 cars uses the same number but I can't remember
who.  Anycase, I just made "all" the cars I have listed in the default list
of cars as "active" and I'll experiment a little with it.  maybe someone can
help me answer these question so I can get the answers quicker..     Correct
me if I'm wrong please!

I understand that for anyone to see me racing in my car, they must have
a copy of my car file.  Lets assume that everyone on the planet has a
copy...  What decides if they see me in my
BarlowMobile/RCA/Holodyne/MysticMusic yellow,red, and green, #1 as opposed
to the default N4 car that also uses the #1?

(other questions to follow depending o the answers I get with this one)

There's only one way to change online cars (and offline for that matter).
After starting the game, click on "Player Info" on the right. In the screen
that comes up you have to drop down boxes labeled "Online Car" and "Offine
Car" and you have to select which you want for each. That is the only way to
change which car you are in that I am aware of.

While the cars share the same car #, they have different file names.
Unless you used the exact file name for the default #1(Steve Park btw)  then
your fellow drivers will see your car when you use it. (assuming of course
you are all sharing a similar carset.)
I have the default Park car named:
1_s_park.cup.car
but I also have downloaded a replacement car from the High Compression
website.  It uses the following carfile name.
01_hc_wc01.cup.car
So while both could appear on track together if I didn't restrict or limit
one of them via the active drivers list, there won't be any confusion who's
who.

Is it possible to just create a new player and associate a different car
with that player?

OK, to clarify a little bit.. As long as everyone has my car file and
everyone has it selected as "Active". they will see me in my painted car? So
the limiting factors currently is that everyone must have a copy of my car
and have that car selected as "Active"? (Yes/No)

    next question:

(Again, pretending that everyone on the planet has a copy of my car file
and it's selected as Active)  Since it could be confusing looking at the F2
window and looking specifically at the car numbers there,  What is the
limiting factor that decides if I'm displayed in the F2 window as Car #1?
or can there be two car # 1's but with different driver names in the same
race?  In the physical world of racing I know how things work in SCCA,  but
I don't know how things work in the virtual world of N4.

No, as long as they have your car file in their cars directory they will
see your car online. Only you need to have yours active. If everyone had
your car file active, then all drivers would be driving the same car. :)

There can be two cars with the same number and different names. There
also could be two or more drivers with the same number and name.
The car number displayed is the number you specify IN your car file, the
name of the file does not determine it.

Yes

BTW in reference to a previous question as to how N4 determines which car is
"seen" if more than one player has selected a carfile which uses the same car
number.....I think that's what you were asking.

If you enter an online server in which another player has already logged onto
using a car with your # (not necessarily the same file name just one which is
running with the same number) N4 will automatically assign you to one of the
generic online cars and give you a three digit number.  Also you may never even
see a player actually using your # as often happens people log into a race
during practice and leave for whatever reason.  Their entry remains on the list
of drivers for that event even after they have left.  They may even log back
onto that server and retain the original #.
