I found out what it was:
The \indycar\tracks\* directories have a text file that is required for
track info etc. It is called for example: NAZARETH.TXT
I had downloaded some replays from didnt.doit.wisc.edu. The zip file(s)
for the replays looked like this: NAZARETH.RPY
NAZARETH.TXT
When I unzipped them to the nazareth (or whatever track they were for)
directories, the .TXT file overwrote the .TXT file in the original
directory and caused many crazy things to happen. A suggestion might
be that people uploading zips of their replays shouldnt name the
descriptive text file with the name of the required text file in
the indycar\tracks\* directories..... just a thought.... I'm back to
racing again, and I will be more careful with unzipping foreign
stuff into the directories in the future..
