ICR Secret Tracks ??

by Doktor FlashB » Fri, 03 Mar 1995 03:20:21

I have IndyCar 1.05 (addition of Indianapolis ONLY to the basic program).

I am finding other tracks, apparently Mid-Ohio and  a couple more.

When practicing on these tracks, there are crew members standing around on
the track at the start finish line.... I may be the last on the planet to
understand whats going on with this, but could somebody clue me in as to
whats happening? Can I remove these crew members? I tried running over them,
but the simulation is not THAT accurate.....hehe

Anyhows...let me know if this is normal or...?

Thanks

I think you're driving in the pits buddy. Try the outside lane
        at Mid-Ohio.

I found out what it was:

The \indycar\tracks\* directories have a text file that is required for
track info etc. It is called for example: NAZARETH.TXT

I had downloaded some replays from didnt.doit.wisc.edu. The zip file(s)
for the replays looked like this:  NAZARETH.RPY
                                   NAZARETH.TXT

When I unzipped them to the nazareth (or whatever track they were for)
directories, the .TXT file overwrote the .TXT file in the original
directory and caused many crazy things to happen. A suggestion might
be that people uploading zips of their replays shouldnt name the
descriptive text file with the name of the required text file in
the indycar\tracks\* directories..... just a thought.... I'm back to
racing again, and I will be more careful with unzipping foreign
stuff into the directories in the future..
