I have a P5-90 with the Diamond Stealth, 2MB RAM and if I turn asphalt texture
off, I get EVERYTHING and smoothly.  I have no complaint with that, especially
since the asphalt doesn't look that good anyway.

I have the SVGA version of Nascar racing and I have noticed things about it..
This is that you can go slighty quicker in the SVGA version than a car
set up the same in the VGA version.

Also I have a P90 and a Diamond Stealth 64 (4Meg).  Even with this to run
at an acceptable speed I have to turn the track texture off.
It recomends a P90 on the box, so in my opinion this should be the
machine that it runs perfectly on??

Is there any way to speed it up??? By special graphics card drivers..

Don't know about this. I can't bear to play the VGA version anymore!

I too have a P90, but with an ATI Mach64 2Mb VRAM card. I can't run
with road texture either, but I don't like it anyway. Grass texture is
the other one that I optionally turn off. It does run smooth with it
on, but as someone pointed out to me once, smoother with it off.
Instead I've upped the number of cars to the maximum and I'm drawing
something like 25 ahead and 5 behind. Now I can see the pace car pull
off and get a second or two jump on the last leg of the pace lap! This
runs so well that I might try upping the number ahead to the max. The
only track I do have problems with is Phoenix (I think), where the
hills going into the grandstand/pit lane section chugs just a bit too
much. Oh, that's with all the detail ON rather than set to Auto.

Would anybody mind if I swear a bit and say how ****ing awesome this
game is on a fast PC in SVGA mode?!!! Sorry, but since I've been
jockying for position in Michigan over the last few nights I've been
wanting to say that!!!

I've noticed that if I boot my system (P100) with EMM386 only that I can turn
everything on with no probs.

EMM386 should make your graphics slower! My graphics go down to about 75% of
non-EMM386 level when booting with EMM386.

How many programs use EMM386 today? Shouldn't everyone try to run their
games without it to speed up the computer?

Do you two have EMM386 configured for Extended or Expanded RAM? Ie
NOEMS or RAM on the EMM386 command line. RAM is slower because of the
way the protocol shifts blocks of memory into a 64k window (or
something like that anyway!!!). I'll have to try fiddling with and
without EMM386 myself to see if I can spot much of a difference.

hi,

it's true. EMM386 (7168 Ram) does speed Nascar SVGA up to 30% !!
I got a P90, S3, and it runs smoothly now with just asphalt texture off!

Stuart, try FS5 (5.1) with & without EMM386 (7168 Ram), you will be
surprised.

I might give that a try just to see what happens! But with my ATI
Mach64 card I already get everything smooth with road texture off.
Grass texture off helps a bit more. Some tracks do require a few more
options to be taken off though...
