Donavon,
I have ICR2 and GP2 (as well N1+2)and on a P75. As for GP2, it's very
playable on my machine. However, I run very few screen eating features
like trackside buidings w/details, etc, but it's no big loss, as the
"basic" SVGA graphics the game supplies is quite nice. Insofar as
gameplay... well, that's up to the individual. I've seen GP2 flamed to
the deepest hell, and lauded to the highest heaven. I fall somewhere in
between. As for the way the car drives, it can be set up to where it's
similiar to the ICR2 car, but you're going to get some neat features
that ICR2 doesn't have, like pitch and roll. True, in a "accident"
situation, the airborne antics aren't quite "authentic", but hitting the
rumble strips, or veering off in a gravel pit is. IMHO, the quality of
racing is good. As you move up through the field, the better
drivers/cars are extremely challenging, and drive aggressively. I like
that. It seems like in N1 & 2, they sort of give up once you pass
them. The race experience in GP2 is totally different from ICR2. That
is, there are no full course yellows, only local... and no pace laps,
but a standing start (complete with starting lights). However both are
correct for F1. Another thing that you'll notice is that all 26 the
cars are drawn in front of you. This makes for some neat situations as
you head for turn one. I've seen cars "up in the pack" climb the wheels
of the car next to them, and bounce accordingly. Also, the breakdowns
are neat. Sometimes, I've come upon a smoking car (and the smoke at
times gets so thick it's challenging to see where you're going!) that
developes an oil fire... complete with flames! (BTW *your* car can do
the same if you've got the random breakdowns kicked in.) In summary,
your machine will handle it (though I don't know about that rendition
card, whether it will actually slow the game). And as for the racing
sim over ICR2, each represent different worlds, and in that respect they
are worlds apart. Both are great. I've not regretted getting GP2. Hope
this helps. (And the menu screen music is kickbutt.)
Feel free to e-mail me with any specific questions you might have.
