Papyrus no win situation

i've only really been playing indycar for a couple of months, since
i got my wheel set. before that i drove on the milwaukee oval trying to
learn the setup procedure and such (got on the completely wrong track
by the way) and had a few abortive goes in Australia. i found the
road circuits very difficult. but you get the hang of it. how many
cars have i written off? god gave up counting!

still i'm an indycar newbie with now a couple of pole positions under
my belt (icr at full realsim 'cos there's no point driving anything
else), but i still found the icr2 demo to be awesomely good. Fun and
hard at the same time (got the editor and turned damage etc, on).

but what about all you icr fans, who have played for years, and lap
courses ten seconds faster (or ten miles per) faster than my
pole winning bests? this game is not going to be harder than icr
because then no newbie will be able to play it. in fact the major
change is the AI won't take you out as much! this has already been
seen with default cars lapping at 5 miles per above real record
times (which the AI cars will probably APPROACH).

it's a shame because when i'm just getting into this game you guys are
going to be moaning that this game is too easy, and you've done it all
before. papyrus can do nothing to help this, or no one else will buy
the game.

of course the real answer is to race each other, maybe turn down the
turbo settings (aren't this regulated in real races to limit hp) to
slow down the lap times to real speed, and play network games. that would
be the ultimate. thirty lunatic speed freaks in near ident cars, thrashing
each other around laguna - you'll have cleared each other off the course
in three laps!

here's to the network version of Indycar2. i'll be on your tailpipe in 96.
