Can anyone tell me what the Colin McRae Rally patch does?

My setup runs fine so I'm reluctant to change anything unless the
patch includes anything special.

I'm with you there, CMR  runs fine on my system, so I'm not patching anything.
I did that with TOCA, another Codemaster title. After applying the patch, the
menus scrolled wildly out of control and I couldn't enter the game.

None of the information I've seen about the CMR patch has said more than it
being for people who have experienced "technical" problems with the game.

  Don't know whether this will help you much, but here goes...
  No problems running the game at all, but unable to run the Rally School.
Installed the patch to fix that, and haven't noticed any 'nasties' yet.

One thing it does is turns off the CD check. Hence them not going into any
detail about it at their web site.
