cmr 3 patch fixes Momo

Finally downloaded the CMR 3 patch, and my momo wheel is now working fine
(with split axis). The only thing you need to do tick the swap pedals box.

The steering is also much improved. Its now quite tight, and I also have
consistant "feel". I won't say force feedback, as the only time the FF kicks
in is when I hit something!

I'm enjoying driving the game, but its still no rally trophy! perfect slides
are ridiculously easy, either through power oversteer, lifting off, or
braking - take your pick.

However, I have enjoyed doing a few scandos around the tight Japanese
course, over-correcting from one curve into the next.

To find the files, try 3dgamers.com. Codemasters have password protected
access to the patch from their server to registered members only. The
servers were pretty busy, so I had getright working overtime to find mirrors
that weren't full.

Regards,
Tim

Patch fixed my sound stuttering problem but now my video is kind of
jerky like textures are loading. No bother, this is not a game for me -
still waiting for a sim rally game with modern cars and great gfx. Xpand
   Rally maybe?? <shrug>

I still can't get split axis with my Thrustmaster Ferrari FF. I tried a few
things, and my break pedal was still the gas pedal, even with the swap
gas/break on and off. Really confusing.

The steering I find to still be floppy as hell, maybe it's because the force
feedback is so terrible or something.

The FF isn't there at all. The car feels like it is on ice all the time..
and then shakes when you hit something.

In Rally Trophy, you could feel the grip tighten up on tarmac, and you could
feel exactly when you lose grip, etc.. it was done very well... CMR3 seems
to not have that.. BUT, CMR3 could be totally accurate, since I've never
driven a WRC car... the problem is, I think for video games, the effect has
to be exaggerated, to make up for seat of the pants and all sorts of other
missing inputs. So, we need to feel the grip level through the wheel a LOT
more.

The stages look amazing though.. Some nice tight stuff.. going through the
trees is really nice and hard to see where you're going.. and 4 minute
stages isn't THAT bad.. although not great.

I can assure you that it the driving of CMR 3 is not accurate. I was a rally
driver for more than 10 years, and driving in CMR 3 has very little sense of
reality. 4WD rally cars tend to understeer unless thrown sideways into a
bend, or given a lot of stick.

If given too much stick (full throttle), a real rally car will immediately
spin on slow to medium corners. In CMR 3 I can hold a slide even with full
throttle even on hairpins.

To get some idea of what a real car handles like on dirt, try doing the
autocross stage on Live For Speed with the turbo car. Of course the LFS cars
are not 4WD, but you get a good sense of the handling when braking or not
using the throttle.

Are you using the Thrustmapper to 'setup' your wheel first I found prior to
the patch the pedals were back to front in both ways ie a pressed brake took
off the throttle. After teh patch the reverse happened. Using the
Thrustmapper you can reverse the output from the axes. Flip teh pedals in
CMR3 if they are the wrong way around. There will be a compination that
works for you here.

The new patch is supposed to provide some steering force feedback, not
just bump-n-grind.

It feels to me like they have that force inverted for the Momo (just like
F1-2002 when you set the force to positive instead of negative). They
steering force seems to be very light.

CAVEAT: I went around the first corner in the UK, found the steering force
felt inverted. Stopped playing. So this is a very quick gut feel. Still ..
you can tell instantly with GTR2002 and so on that the force feedback is
right).

I wish they would get CMR3 to drive at least as well as CMR2 which for all
its faults was fun and had MUCH better force feedback than that
NeedForSpeed (any version) had.
