I would appeciate any advice on the the quality of the wheel and pedals
made by Thrustmaster. Any other suggestions for a PowerPC (MAC)

My advice 2 U is to get a T2.  I just did and I am extremly pleased.  It
is a giant step up over a joystic or a Virtual Pilot Pro.

If you can afford it, try a Wheel and pedal set from Interactive Racing,
it was called the GP500, But I think its now called The Digital Edge F1
Sim.
It costa around 200.00 + vat, you can get info from...
