I was watching the qualifying session last night on ITV (UK), their
first year of coverage - not bad so far.
Before qualifying started we got taken on a tour of the circuit with a
computer simulation (ITV's words) courtesy of Psygnosis narrated by
Martin Brundle. A chase view of a single plain blue car, very pretty
graphics, excellent trackside detail. It ran at a slightly
disappointing sub 30fps speed, probably about 20 fps - obviously not
using the 30 fps (claimed) 3Dfx ;-)
This, if I understood correctly (maybe not - it was 01:45), is to be a
regular feature with all GPs. Good job Psygnosis PR!
The graphics were too sharp (and not fluid enough) to be a playstation
so I can only guess that this is PC F1. Melbourne only started hosting
F1 in '96 so does this mean that PC F1 is based on the '96 season (as
opposed to playstation's '95)?
I think Papy should hunt down Psygnosis' marketting dept. and have them
get us Daytona and Indy for N2!
