GPL - throttle & brake help

by Michael Aidul » Tue, 17 Sep 2002 11:51:53

I am setting up a small GPL offline hotlap competition and
I would like to ask the following question: does anyone
know how I can verify (from replay files or otherwise)
whether a hotlap was set with throttle and brake help ON or
OFF? I would like to ban these driver aids but this might
not be practical unless I have a way to test for their
existence.

Thank you for any help,

I don't know if you can tell from the replay files, but it doesn't really
matter, because it's faster not to use the aids. So the guys who break the
rules and use the aids will be slowest anyway.

Have you tried these aids lately?  Don't worry; no hotlaps are set with
them!

Leave it - unless your drivers are all very new to GPL, there's no
way any of them will be setting fastest times with any of the aids
on.

At which point I insert the statutory advice to new drivers: turn all
the aids off before you even start - you'll thank me later! :-)

So I should switch off the aids to get a sub 7:55 ring the ring?
I thought my keyboard is the culprit.

You'd be a real hero if you could get a 7:55 at the ring any other way.

If any of your driving controls (steering, throttle, brake) are controlled
digitally, with the keyboard or a button for instance, iirc the relevant
'aid' is enabled anyway, regardless of whether you select it or not.
