Does anyone know for a fact that iRacing will be a deliverable software
product to home simulation enthusiasts?

I get e-mails from them about real racing but never about the actual
software as a real simulation product.

Many were sucked into the Legends of Motorsport that was nothing more than
but a few great artists renditions of motorsport cars of the late 60s but
the product was vaporware.

Whilst it would seem the right thing to us for iRacing to keep the sim
racing fans up to speed with the developments of the software, it
remains  pretty closely guarded until the time is right to start the
marketing campaign. The perceived audience is far wider than the niche
group of *** sim racers on here, although I do believe this group
will be catered for.

The current approach would appear to be to let registered users know
they are still around and very much in touch with real motorsport. Given
the investment and company formation I am pretty sure we will all know
about it when the product is close enough for release and the marketing
boys swing into action...

It's only vapor-ware because no one bought any Teddy Bears from them. ;)
The West brothers are the biggest losers in the *** industry, I used
to ascribe that title to Derek Smart but at least Derek Smart put out an
actual game of sorts.

iRacing has shown video on their website of the actual game and not just
high res 3D art of buses and wheels so I believe it is a real product
that we will eventually see released.

But is the iRacing thing going to be a home product.

The latest news releases seem to suggest that it will be a driver
training tool, and not something that a "home" user would purchase.

I can't imagine that there is enough of a market for advanced driving
simulation software like this, since most of the real world racers I
know do not use computers, much less driving sims, but maybe I am
wrong.

( And by most drivers, I am talking about the rank and file of all
classes and divisions, the "average" racer. The percentage who
actually use computers for this type of thing is very low in my
experience. )
