That's a good idea. I had a problem similar to N. Swan's...
My desk is thick enough, but it has a large beveled edge on it. The
edge interfered with the clamps before they contacted the actual
underside of the desk.
I cut the side off of a corrogated cardboard box, and stick it between
the clamps and the underside of the desk.
It works good. You can clamp it down tight, and the box will give
before the clamps.
Also, I don't know if this will work for the T2 (you might have just a
bit too much leverage on a wheel), but it worked great for my
Wingman Extreme joystick:
I bought stick on velcro at a craft shop. I used 4 1" pieces of it on
the bottom of my stick, and it has held the stick great for a couple
of years. It's nice because if I need the desk space, I can just pull
the stick off, and it only leaves the 4 fuzzy pads, which really
aren't a problem for me.
I wish I could affix and remove my T2 as fast... Maybe I'll try it.
If you decide to try this, affix both sides of the velcro to the
stick/wheel so that they are all on your wheel or stick bottom.
Peel off the backing of the bottom pieces before you set the
controller down. When you set it down, the glue will stick the lower
portion to the desk, and the velcro will line up perfectly when you
install the controller.
