TSW Desk fixing

Hello everyone,

I'm on the verge of buying a TSW Formula '99 but coming from England, I've
no way of checking what one looks or feels like.
My mind is virtually made up on the quality of the wheel - there are just
too many fans for that to be in doubt - but I'm worried about how I'm going
to fix it to my desk.
My desk is plain wood, about two-thirds of an inch thick, but it has a
three-inch deep metal "frame" which runs around the inside, about an inch in
from the edge. From what I've read on the TSW site, I can see this being a
problem. Am I right, or would the L-shaped clamp still be okay? And do I
need the clamp anyway? It sounds pretty heavy!
Would also appreciate any feedback from F99 owners on their choices of
wheels...

The lip shouldn't be a problem, I don't think -- my desk has a HUGE
lip at the front edge and a relatively thin surface overall, and once
I get my wheel clamped in place, I could lift the desk with it.  I did
have some slight problems because of the lip, and Trevor Thomas
offered to provide a modified bracket free of charge, but I declined
his generosity because a deck of cards fixed my problem.  Check out
the full details AND pictures of the clamping mechanism in action on
my desk at:

The picture shows a Windows 95 manual doing duty on the TSW2 bracket
for the photo shoot, but I needed the manual so I substituted a deck
of cards.

Hope this helps a bit.

I stuck a slab of mdf that sits under my monitor and extends beyond the edge of
the table thus...
