SCGT requirements

Anybody know the system requirements for SCGT?  How about the recommended
system?  At times the game seems almost unplayable on my Pentium 233MMX
(64MB RAM, 4MB Voodoo1, Nascar Pro wheel).  Even with the graphics at the
lowest settings the game seems like it's in slow motion a lot.

I can play the other sims fine, like GPL, N3, VR, CPR, and DTR (demo).

Would upgrading to a 12MB Voodoo2 1000 PCI help for SCGT?  How about 128MB
RAM?  How about a digital wheel like the Mad Catz Andretti?

I know a new system is in order, but that will have to wait until next year
when the prices for PIII 733 come down a bit and Intel comes out with the
820 chipset and board.

A faster CPU would be a big help, but the Voodoo 1 is definitely the
choke-point for the system here.  Yes, upgrade to a Voodoo2, Banshee,
Voodoo3, etc.  If you can get a used one or bargain-ba***t deal
that would be great, since you certainly will want an AGP version in
your new system next year......  More RAM will not speed it up, but just
give you longer replays.  A digital wheel will help if you can go USB;
otherwise it will be more precise but no other major improvement in
performance.

I'm currently running on a P233MMX with an ATI rage+ card (8mb), 96 Mb
memory, and a joystick (yeah, I know, but I can afford SCGT at US$10, I
can't afford a decent wheel at US$100...) in 640x480 with mostly low
graphics. I could run higher if I didn't have to see the other cars :)

FWIW, the V2-1000 12 Meg card from 3Dfx can be had just about anywhere for
$80 less a $30 mail-in rebate (net $50).  Offer is good until 12/31/99.

I too run a P233MMX, 64mb RAM. However, my graphics card is a 16mb Maxi
Gamer Phoenix Voodoo Banshee and SCGT runs fine. So it looks like a new card
is what you need. The Banshee isn't the card of choice for most people here
but I can only speak from my own experiences and it runs every sim (GPL, N3,
DTR, NL, etc) without problem. Like you I ma also looking forward to
upgrading next year.
