Nascar 4 AI... ok so I plan to play online mostly.. but do any of you
lot <actually> do more than 10 laps of racing? I mean come on one-lap
wonders are most of ya but I fancy races where you have to pit at least
once.. get out and run! ok so you get wreckers which is a problem... but
I don't see why we can't run 40% races and shit... be better!

anyone got a fix for N4 AI? and also what's the deal on only being able
to rev at Tally/Daytona 7000rpm!!! that sucks I used to almost redline
the ***er in N3 before shifting!!! someone cure it??? :)

I assume you think that *** folks dont frequent this forum, but I will
try to lend some help to you anyway.

You want to run more than 5% or 10% races, find a league. Pick up racing is
always going to be a mess, always has been. (Excpet for maybe the Hawaii
days)

The AI is a known issue, has been since day 2. Check out the forum on
Papy.com to see posts regarding AI behavior dating back to February.

Daytona and Talladega use restrictor plates and is the reason the rev
limiter is cranked down there. If you push the engine too hard there in a
longer race (>25%) then you will possibly blow up. I've blown with 5 laps to
go in a 30% race there and never even really hit the rev limiter (and no, I
didn't have much tape either). This doesn't need a cure, it is realistic, if
you dont want realistic, run in Arcade mode. The redline for these tracks is
below the marked redline on the gauge in the game, BTW.

Hope this helps and watch the language next time,

edb

Ever heard of a restrictor plate?  It is a device which reduces the amount
of air which can get into the carburettor, reducing the power of the engine.
This, together with a rev limiter means that 7000rpm is the realistic
maximum rpm at Talladega and Daytona.

Cheers

I knew about the restrictor plate but didn't realise that 7000rpm was a
limit! I been watching Days of Thunder too much :)

I have run 100% vs 120% twice and finished the race (once 3 laps down
though).  I think the AI is a little stupid at times but it also races
tough and thats all I'm looking for...  ok, sure I would love more
realistic AI but ..
