When I try to copy and rename the Tally folder to Daytona, I get a
message when I try to load Daytona that say "complete track description
not found". How would I fix this problem?
Thanks

Make sure that you use the same number of charcacters in the name as the
file you're copying... Taladega becomes daytonax ; taladega.txt becomes
daytonax.txt; taladega.dat becomes daytonax.dat. Then open the
daytonax.dat file with Wordpad and search for everywhere it says taladega
and change it to daytonax. Open daytonax.txt and change the name of the
track and location and such (do leave the track length the same as it will
change how N2 reports your speeds). That should be it. Modify your
calendar file to include Daytona (there are several copies floating
around) and you're off!

Chris,
You do not have to change the Daytona directory to Daytonax. It works just
fine with just plain Daytona. I have no problems when i change everything
over from the Tal. Track. Just don't switch them up like putting the .dat
file as daytona.dat and the text file as daytonax.txt, and you will be
fine. Don't confuse these people with stuff that is not needed.

If not mentioned earlier, you'll need to hexedit the names inside the dat
file, or you can use one of the utilities to extract, rename the files,
and
then recompile. Sound complicated, but it's really a piece of cake. :)

AFAIK, unless the file is unpacked (which I saw no mention of), you'll
get a heap-error if the character string length is different. This is why
when editing the file via a hex-editor, that references to TALADEGA be
renamed to DAYTONAB (or X)...
If I walked into the middle of something, please kindly tell me to stay
home... ;)
