Incorrect.  It's been stated for a while now that they were "awaiting
FIA approval".  Some folks bought the corporate propaganda, others
didn't.  Although it does seem the nay-sayers to the patch were off on a
bit of a tangent.

He's a rookie, for Chrissake.  He's got more points than Zanardi had!

You do realize that a patch can be worked on, thought completed (maybe even
sent off for approval from the FIA), and then re-evaluated due to continued
testing, private beta tester feedback, and public feedback? The
developers/publisher then may issue a new statement regarding the status.

In my beta testing experience, this is very, very, very, very, very, very
common. No propaganda is needed, especially since this isn't an issue that
will make national headlines in the media.

I would think companies would want to go ahead and release the patch they
have that at least fixes some of the issues, and start work on a second
patch for issues that arose late in development or release.

That's exactly the way Ubi used to patch their games. I prefer that.
Although, they and others (like MF for RC2000) will be criticized for that
approach as well. Now, maybe due to Actualize, Ubi Soft have taken the same
approach as Papyrus (two months for N4 patch).

Cheap bastards, that's why.

That's hardly a fair comparison.  Ralf has competed in about 75 Grand Prix,
whereas JPM is a rookie.

I'd be surprised if JPM had only won two races by the time he reached his
75th GP.

He's hardly a rookie race car driver. They are only a few months apart in
age, and Montoya was a test driver for Williams, and won the CART
championship in '99. He spent two years in F3000.

His attitude has been just as bad as his driving.

I agree he's hardly a rookie, but neither was Zanardi. He'd even been
in F1 before, back in 90 or 91. JPM just needs to calm down a bit, but
at least he's entertaining, something different from the robots that
most of the others tend to be.

As you know F3000 don't race every F1 track, plus there's a difference
between driving a track, and driving a track in a particular car.  Ralf has
done all the tracks *four* times before *in an F1 car*.  JPM has done half a
season in an F1 car and some testing.  Champ Cars have slick tyres and
turbos, so it's quite a switch to go to F1 cars.

As for his attitude, he's made one stupid naive comment to Villeneuve in the
middle of a heated argument.  Big deal.  I remember Michael Schumacher
accusing DC of trying to kill him at Spa, which was even more ludicrous.

Having watched Montoya for the last two years in CART, I think he's an
exceptional natural talent.

Sure he's making mistakes at the moment, but what did Mika Hakkinen spend
his first year in F1 doing?  Casuing a shunt at the first turn of every
other race, and now he's a double world champion, so I think it's a little
early to be writing Montoya off completely.

I never said he was a "rookie race car driver".  He's a rookie in the
competitive ranks of F1.  But then you knew that.  Watch where he's at
in a few year's time.

He's doing a fine impression of Ralf Schumacher's first F1 season :-)
