AMA Superbike Multiplayer problem

I decided I would ignore the doom and gloomers on RAS and bought the sim
anyway.

The interface is difficult to get use to but I figured it out and I even
downloaded the latest "update" and was impressed with how it is done !

However,I have tried to log on to one of the online Brainerd practice
sessions and it says LOADING and then does nothing (until I have to re-boot
IT ! )  FWIW, I have a ISDN connection.

Is the online multiplayer function working ?? Any suggestions???

THANKS !!!

Well, I tried logging on to the online server, but there's no race I can
join per se; the list is empty. My impression is that the servers are
not up yet.

I was having the same problem on Sunday. A few times everything worked OK
but occasionally I got to the "LOADING" screen and then locked up.

Once I got in though, it worked very well. I ran a few races with 4 other
guys at Brainerd (the only track available right now). I was using a
Supersport bike and I think some were on Superbikes but it was still fun. I
especially love the controller configuration menus. Difficult to figure out
at first but very customizable! I use a CH Flightstick and TSW pedals as
follows:

Steering: Flightstick Left/Right
Situp/Crouch: Flightstick Fore/Aft
Shift Up/Down: Flightstick Buttons
Rider Lean: Flightstick Throttle Wheel
Throttle: TSW Throttle Pedal
Front Brake: TSW Brake Pedal
Rear Brake: TSW Clutch Pedal

Works very well!!!

Yesterday one of our arenas was frozen (it was the top most one of them).

In that event the program doesn't hang but it gets stuck on LOADING waiting
for the arena to respond. In that event you can escape out of the program
and enter again and choose a different arena. Over the last 4 days only one
arena has hung (we are attributing it to the log file the arena was
generating since it was several hundred megabytes) but we are still looking
into what happened to that particular arena.

The online multiplayer is working, The way the arenas are set right now
require 3 people to start a 5 min qualifier round to up to 20 people per
arena (we will bump it all the way up to 30 after we see it's stable with
20). After the qualifier is done the race is only 6 laps for now. We will be
adding more arenas and increase the number of laps/qual time later on.

As i'm on the subject of online, do not worry about the free 30 days online
yet, since we are still on open beta the clock is not ticking for anyone.

I hope this helped

Hmm, the arena list has been up and running, maybe you can register for a
new account, or send email to our support guys with your account info so
that they can check if your account is setup right.

There are some server side flags per account to allow users see different
arenas, maybe yours is not set right.

I have a 100 MB ethernet connection down the hall
and it did it to me once today too. ;)
This is one of the beta bugs we are working on.

If it appears to lock at "Loading" occasionally
when online, as a work around (err, run from? ;)
until we figure it out try an escape first.
That brought it down a little more gracefully
for me. (Not sure if that's possible
in general, yet.)

I would then advise rebooting (manually)
after a crash. (Of any beta software,
not just ours. ;)
