Motorsports Simulations To Demo AMA Superbike At Daytona Bikeweek

Motorsport Simulations announced that their first racing title AMA Superbike - will debut at
Bike Week, the annual motorcyclist racing event at Daytona Beach in Daytona, Florida. The
company plans to hold a special media reception for the game at the week-long festival of
motorcycle events, which has been known to draw over 300,000 motorcycle enthusiasts annually.
A number of leading AMA riders including former AMA Champion David Sadowski will race against
each other in a computer competition at the event.

Bike Week is the perfect event for us to launch our AMA Superbike title. Motorsims is an
active participant in the racing community and we want diehard racing enthusiasts to be the
first to enjoy our exciting simulation of the AMA Superbike experience. We look forward to
introducing friends old and new to the new standard in racing simulation at this world-famous
racing event, notes founder and Chairman Bob McCarthy.

Im pleased to be part of the Motorsims racing team, adds broadcaster and former AMA champ
David Sadowski. The Motorsims guys have the passion for racing that it takes to be a winner.
Anyone whos ever wanted to race in a competitive, officially sanctioned event will want to
check out AMA Superbike.

Motorsport Simulations plans to release the Internet version of AMA Superbike in the Spring
of 1999. The game will be playable online via Motorsport Simulations exclusive Internet
racing community. More information on AMA Superbike can be found at www.motorsims.com

We will have a LAN set up with four
computer stations in our booth at the track
running a pre-alpha version of our game.

I don't get to go (darn it ;)
but stop by, ride the game, and say hello
to the Motorsims people in our booth
if you get to the Daytona Bike Week.

What kind of controllers are going to be hooked up to these LANed
computers? Just wondering what your recommended weapon of choice is for
your game.

Will the Harley superbike DNF in the game races like it usually does in
real life? heh  Alright, alright, I'll give them credit for at least
trying to make a roadrace bike. Some day they may actually be a
dominating force.  :)

We'll be running MS Sidewinder Precision Pro's because ... well ... they
were on sale at CompUSA. We figured after a week out in the sun and sand and
beer we'd probably just have to feed whatever we brought to the 'gators
anyway.

Any 4-axis controller should work fine (Sidewinder, Cyborg, etc.), though.
And we're thinking about some ideas for motorcycle-specific throttle
controllers ('cuz otherwise it's total overload on your joystick hand). We
are working with all the popular joystick makers to ensure that things
perform up to expectations. And, before you ask, Force Feedback will be
supported in the final product.

Mechanical reliability will be modelled in the box game. For online, where
the gameplay dynamics are quite different, all bikes will have the potential
to finish any race they enter (translation: we expect more "driver-induced"
failures online ... ahem).
