Actually, I find it almost undriveable on MOST people's settings...  I don't
see how they do it...

Nah, the record for the Ring doesn't bother me.  I know I don't have a chance
in HELL of getting within 2 minutes of it...  No pressure<g>

It doesn't seem to matter if you're using a joystick or a wheel. I'm
using a Thrustmaster GP1 (no pedals) and on most traks I find Woeger's
setups simply the best - can't stand those difficult to drive
Huttu-style setups.

I think it took everyone ages :-)

What I do is roughly similar, but I don't brake.

I too stay all the way over to the right on the approach, and then ease
off slightly, at the exact moment I turn in. My turn-in point is quite
early and usually my left wheels run over the grass on the inside of the
left-hand part.

As soon as I'm past the apex I gradually get back on to full throttle.
You need to turn in very early for the second apex too, almost scraping
the barrier, or you will end up either in a hedge or in some poor
Belgian's dining room :-)

This technique is usually good for getting through at around 180 mph and
owes a lot to studying replays of Greger "take me to your leader" Huttu
and others :-))

Many thanks for your advice, David, and for the earlier post on setup which
works a treat - I've already done a PB although nothing like as quick as
yours.

That's strange, I found the Huttu setup quite easy to drive (havn't tried
Woeger's) but Rick Prydden's very difficult.

I have to add my vote for Greger's setups. I find I can recover when I get
out of shape, whereas with other setups I've tried once I lose it it's lost
for good!

I'm lucky if I can hit it at 160, let alone 170.  And, I destroyed MANY of
Enzo's creations just trying to do THAT...

The problem is, you really don't get the chance to practice it efficently,
unless you turn around and drive back, then start from Malmedy again.
Otherwise, it's another 3 1/2 minutes until you get to it again, and you may
have forgotten which blade of grase was your brake marker...<g>
This is where you need a driving 'replay' facility.
"Start me at the exit of Malmedy at racing speed.  End 100 yards after the
conclusion of Masta.  Repeat."

Thought that I'd just confirm what you're saying here Graeme.  It is
absolutely essential to not turn in late.  It is far better to turn in
slightly too early and readjust than the other way round.  If you turn
in too late then you will find yourself having to use way too much
steering to get through this corner which will seriously slow you down.

Can't agree with you more Graeme.  This is definitely the way to do it
and I too can manage up around the 180 mark when doing it this way.  :)
