The game wasn't pushed any harder than any other GTA or Rockstar game
- witness the awful but heavily promoted Italian Job and State of
Emergency - but it sold in piles because the gameplay was superb. I
can't even think of a single game that allowed seamless
driving/walking in the same engine aside from the earlier top-down GTA
titles. Mafia beats it hands down, particularly in terms of character
development and driving physics, but the previews of GTA:VC are
incredible. Very few games, if any, offer the amount of freedom that
the most recent GTA titles have offered. They're severely lacking as
driving simulators, but that's hardly the appeal of the games.
