Guys,

Have a read of this 'preview' of N2003 and look at the comments made by the
general public.

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Let him have it. What a disgrace.

He's got both barrels coming his way. It's the most inept piece of reviewing
i've ever seen in my life.

The truth is out there. You just have look in the right places and ask the
right questions.

whats even worse is that his pro race driver review says "PRD is for racing
fans who dont want to play more than 20 laps" and "PRD is the best racing
game ever"

Geez, where do they get this guy? I'll bet he drives some really crappy car
and hates Manual gears!!

Whatever man, not everyone is gonna think the same thing about every game.
Even if his review is a little ignorant to you, it's a perfectly legitimate
review for others with the same mind-set towards ***.

I dunno, I expect people who preview games to at least read the
included documentation before wasting multiple paragraphs ***ing
about missing features that aren't really missing.  Personally I could
care less if he likes/dislikes it, I just find the repeated factual
errors to be pathetic.

OTOH, his preview is about in line with every other review/preview
I've ever read on that site.

That's what I'm sayin'. If people can continue to read this guy's review,
then they probably aren't gonna find the features either :)  So, his review
is relevant to those people.

I was willing to read his review with tolerance and let him have his
opinions. After all, when he starts talking about keyboard steering it
becomes pretty clear where he comes from and which clientele he's writing
for. When he then began to criticise the sound I thought yeah right, pure
realism in this field isn't everybody's loaf of bread and I thought he's
going to start talking about the in-car engine sounds for example. But then
he says the crash sound is no good - ouch <g>

I think we just need to accept that he was writing for a clientele whose
requirements are very far away from ours (however mixed ours may be). But it
would be good if such reviewers would define and describe their target group
more clearly. The heat he's taking over on that worthplaying site is
justified, as apparently, they put up a review that was absolutely not
suited to _their_ clientele.

I don't know.  I read the review, and his thoughts on the sound / graphics
issue not withstanding, I didn't think it was that bad.

He says that you need a wheel to play this sim correctly, to have a chance at
having a good time.  You know what?  He's right.  When was the last time you
recommended a sim to someone without adding..."Do you have a wheel?  You really
need to get a wheel to enjoy this sim...really cheap too!"

And in the end of the review he flat out states that if you want a racing game
this in not for you, move on...but if you wanta "GAME THAT TAKES THE SIMULATION
ASPECT AS FAR AS IT CAN GO"...then this is the one.

Not so bad, I think.

Okay...let the flaming begin (ducking)

Ah, but in Pro Race Driver he also mentions the "rear windshield". Ummm.....
what is a rear windshield, anyway?  Maybe it's only on cars that go really,
really fast in reverse.

The really worrying thing is you saddo's getting all het up about some
obscure online review of a game that will sell to the fans regardless of
what the "journalist" types.
His closing paragraph includes this quote.." All in all, Nascar 2003 Racing
Season delivers heavily to *** simulation fans while leaving everyone
else confused and frustrated.  "
What's wrong with that ?

No, he doesn't say "This game needs a wheel to get the most out of it". He
says "This game is ***because it requires a wheel to control."

BIG difference, IMO.

It's a cop out... the review should have started with that sentence and gone
on to what makes NR2003 a great simulation or not. He starts of with a
premise which doesn't apply to NR2003 and then goes on to lambast NR2003 for
not living up to it. That's not reviewing, that's badmouthing.

Tell me when you're medium rare. <g>
