1. SONY Multiscan G400
2. CTX PR960F

I use both of these monitors everyday. The Sony at home and the CTX at
work. Both are 19" Tritron tubes. I have to give the edge to the Sony,
it is a fantastic monitor. The CTX is certainly also in the same class,
just not quite as good as the Sony.

Don't make the same mistake I did several years ago and buy a cheap 19"
showmask tube monitor (Acerview 99c). Your eyes will thank you for not
buying the cheapest 19" monitor you can find and you probably won't have
to replace it within 3 years.

I would have to agree, spend a little more for a good quality monitor, after
all we don't replace them near as often as other computer peripherals.
I have the Sony 19" HMD-A400 Trinitron which has a 4 port usb hub built in.
Have had it about a year now and it is awesome.

Don't buy a Philips 109P20 - convergence is terrible and grill wires stick
out badly.

This url might help you with your decision. I have the 19" NEC MultiSync
FE950 which they placed in top choice along with the Samsung 900NF . Very
nice monitor using a Mitsubishi Diamondtron (same tech as Sony Trinitron)
tube. Fact is though, there are lots of good monitors out there and you need
to look at factors like cost and waranty service when making a decision,
besides quality.

I'll cast another vote for NEC - I have the FP950, and it's just gorgeous.
