F1rs freezing

I own a 166mhz pentium on a TX motherboard with Intense 3D Voodoo card 6
M of sdram and a Sound Blaster original 16 sound card. My problem is
that F1rs always freeze during the first lap of track if I go fast. My
windows mouse cursors comes back in the screen but the image that is
displayed is a freeze frame of F1rs. The only thing I can do is restart
windows with the keyboard since I can't use the mouse blindly.

I used to have the same problem with Links LS 98 except that it rebooted
the game very often. So I first changed my Mach 64 video card to a 3Dfx
card. The problem was still there so I changed my compatible sound card
to an original one. The problem was still there so I reformatted my hard
drive and reinstalled windows. The problem was still there so I upraded
from version 4.00.950a to 4.00.950b of Windows 95. And the problem is
still there.

Can anyone help me? That is the only two games that runs like this. I
tought that the problem was with Direct X but I'm using Flight
Simulators 97 that also uses Direct X with no problems...

Sorry for the mistake, but my motherboard is a VX one with a 256k of
cache memory.

Got me stumped. It's possible it could be the cpu overheating or
faulty ram, but as you said it's only in those two games. Mouse port
conflict? Something in your bios is not set right maybe or is set in a
way that has aggressive timings and it just so happens that F1RS and
Links does something that is just too much for your system. Try going
into your bios and setting it to default and see if that corrects the
problem. Write down any current settings though so you can set it back
if it doesn't help. You could post this same problem in a hardware
group as they may be able to help you better.

Here's another possible idea I came up with. You're low on disk space
maybe.
