GPL and N99

by Arto Wik » Tue, 13 Apr 1999 04:00:00

... well I bought the N99 just to get the new tracks to GPL. Very nice
add-on's, as I already have written. Then just for fun I tried driving
also the N99. And it was fun! Of course GPL is the great thing. But
to me, an European who doesn't especially like watching oval races,
it was quite interesting to try one. I took an oval, which is so "oval"
as an oval can be: The Bristol Motor Speedway. I raced a 50 laps race.
I qualified only 23/31 with 16.11 sec. In the race I anyhow could
make my way 9/31, Bill Elliot won. My average speed was 113.323mph.
Perhaps not so much, but it was exiting! And I nearly could pass
Rusty Wallace, 8/31, just in the final line. I even burned my motor
there - 10 meters after the flag - because I intentionally used too
small gear to get speed very fast, and I knew I'll not need the motor
any more... As you can see, I really "got the feeling"...  :-)

Hi Arto... I see you found the best part of Nascar... Bristol!!

I enjoy that a lot on N2/99 as well... that's the only track I really go
back to after playing GPL. The action happens so fast and the cars feel
so good there... and the fender banging!! ;-)

I love GPL the most, but when N3 comes out, Bristol will get a workout
from me, too!
