Online Newbie Question

by Peter Hoope » Tue, 23 May 2000 04:00:00

Hi all,
Just spent the last couple of hours in some more online races at Monza (boy
have I got the bug now..)
A quick question.. if I stop in the pits and hop into someone else's***pit
does this have any effect on them.. ie does it cause them any lag?? I sat in
someone else's***pit to see how they managed certain corners but then
stopped as I would hate to be spoiling their run.

Picked up my first ever podium earlier :O)) OK there were only 6 drivers...
but hey.. you gotta start somewhere..
Just concentrating at the moment on avoiding errors rather than trying to be
too quick.

Oh another question.. is there any way to have the race details
automatically saved?? Just finished a race and felt as though I might have
put in a coulpe of pretty quick laps (for me anyway...) but the session was
ended before I had the chance to save the details...

Cheers

Peter Hooper

No it should not affect their connection since the server is sending you the
data anyway. The joining is on your client side machine.

Excellent plan, you can pick up lots of places this way particularly at the
Nurburgring :)

Nope, no automatic save unless somebody has come up with a third party
program that I'm not aware of. What I do is go directly to the save replay
button as soon as my car stops. Hit save, name it any old thing , i.e."bn"
and hit OK. Can now do a save in under 5 seconds which is usually fast
enough to avoid host disco though some hosts will barely wait for you to
cross line if you're last.

Good racing to you and see you on VROC

Depends on how you jump in the***pit Peter. As long as you're watching the
action a little bit behind them  (Live Feed is showing on the screen under
the vcr controls) then it won't but if you're watching them live and they're
on dialup you can cause screen stutters or possibly a disco. One of the guys
I run in a couple of leagues with knows the moment someone is sitting in his
car with him as it causes all sorts of problems.
