GPL Server Locator Version 1.046 problem?

by Peter Gag » Fri, 22 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Some problems.....(using v1.46 thats, 1.00 build 46 Beta 4)

Under the GPL driver info screen I get asked for Label2 (under the
country field) but no options are available? And this is a "required"
field?

I also have the area/city code as zero, does this matter?

When I ping or reload, nothing happens/ I presume it is trying to
connect but comes back with nothing?

I also get various error messages at the bottom of the screen (in
green!) including the following....

FTP Action GET file Error  0, successful

FTP Action CONNECT Error  0,

Anyone got any ideas how to get this working? it looks like it could
be a great program, and I want it to turn out ok, but maybe its me not
doing things correctly? I'll e-mail the author too.....

8-)

error 0 is a "good error" !! - it signifies success.

I had the same problem with the field2...

as to the area code - it look like the author has put in a simple check to
ensure that its numbers - regardless of how many.. not sure why its needed
anyway.

cheers

Author here:

The intent for the area code is:  In the future, if there are alot of
servers running.  The list will take 2 - 4 seconds to load for each race
running.  By including you location information, I can allow you to only see
races in certian areas to make the process faster.

Hey Dean,

nice one - I take it the area code is worldwide (i.e. you don't intend to do
any validation on it)...

haven't managed to connect to a race via GPLSL yet (only seen one on there
so far, but failed to connect) but will keep looking and race as soon as I
can.

cheers

GPL Server Locator Version 1.046 problem?

Hi Lindsay,

There currently is no validation on the area code.  Other than it has to
be no more than 3 numerics. (In the next version to be released.  The
current verion doesn't limit to 3).  An update will hopefully be available
this weekend.

Dean

When it is limited to 3, what should we enter ? International dialling
code or the area code within the country we specified ?

Dean,

I know you are gonna cuss at me for this... but I think it really needs to
be longer - we have 5 digit (yes 5) area codes here in the UK. We could drop
the first digit (a zero) but that still leaves us with 4. I'm not sure what
the rest of the world have...

cheers
