gpl 1.2 WORKS NOW

If you are like me and have no respect for the the executable, don't
like to wait, and don't want to mess with your
system clock open gpl.exe in the hex editor of your choice and change
the bytes at location 0x0000B16D from 0x7F04
to 0x7C04. For reference the preceeding bytes are 0x83F909, i.e compare
register blah against 9, we change jump if
greater than to jump if less than, so GPL 1.2.0.0 will now run on a
machine with the month set to October or beyond. A
little disassembly goes a long way. :-)

Note this is for the U.S. 1.2 patch only, the German patch probably
differs although a similar search will probably yield
similar results.

gpl 1.2 WORKS NOW

I suggest posting this "hacked" GPL 1.2 to alt.binaries.simulators.autos or
somewhere on the net for others to download and so we can have hosts for
online racing hosting with GPL 1.2 instead of waiting for Sierra to
officialy release the 1.2 patch. The online racing was way better with 1.2
than 1.1 but as we all know it didn't last very long. GPL Spy Boy with
support for 1.2 would be the next task but we can still use VROC via IE or
Netscape.

Agreed!!!  It is a little too familiar to think two that are two geniuses
who came up with this within a short span of time.....

Thanks George....I am not actually using 1.2, too busy so I'll just wait for
the official, but your hack would be greatly appreciated by me in other
times and IS greatly appreciated by others here.

Marc.

Hehe, it is not funny but he must be so lazy that he literally copied and
pasted your post.  I was about to say something but you beat me to it. :)

And thanks for the fix, it is great!
