Why do so many people continue to ridicule the whole concept of RL and
regard it as a hoax?

What - exactly - would Chris and Tony gain from it?

Why would people making hoax go to the extent of making a fully working
graphics and sound engine that's been driven by people I've spoken to on
VROC

Why would they make a very nice website detailing the new plans now they've
escaped from Empire if it was all about nothing

What possible reason would they have to go to goodwood and talk to people
about it.

Why would they put every penny they have into this project and despite
ending up stuck with a ***publisher - have the audacity and witherall to
start again to escape it?

All the evidence shows that they are making a title. I wouldnt be wasting my
time on future 3rd party addons for RL unless I KNEW it was going to come
out.

So - what would the point be in a hoax - and taking into consideration that
it isnt ( fact ) - what's the point in ridiculing and troll posting about
it.

I'm talking about people like

Nigel Nichols "West Bros. Papy wannabe's"

Alan Bernardo, "this is an elaborate hoax"

Willem "i doubt anything they programm will ever see the light of day"

Ben Daniels "This is the best 12th July joke ever"

Joel Wilstein "Now where is your proof"

Jon T "Promises , Promises.........."

And of course - one could mention RedTed - but why bother.

Do you guys REALLY believe this all to be a hoax? That someone would do all
this just for a laugh? I mean - WTF?  I really dont understand it - so -
please explain why you refuse to believe RL is being made and will be
release.  OR - is it just a joke  - if so - dont giveup the day job for
stand-up comedy

Doug, after reading all the threads on all the forums i would advise you to
slow down and stop trying to defend the Wests and their project quite so
much.I can see you're behind this 100% and it may be just a matter of time
but for the last 48 hours all i seem to see is several Doubting Virus'
spreading and Doug Anti-Virus trying his hardest to stop the flow.

Hats off to the Wests if it all comes out anywhere near their targets, but
hey Doug ward off the coronary long enough to enjoy it mate.:)

But you did anyway, cheers !

What's the problem with having a few dissenters in your midst ? It's only a few ppl
putting their opinions  on the NG for all to debate. Some think it will appear to
rapturous and overwhelming  success and others think it won't. Not everyone is saying it's
a hoax, but it sure could be. Stranger things have happened.  Especially on the 'net.
What evidence are you putting forward that would make me believe this game is being made
and will be released ?  Show me proof positive that it's being made and I swear I will
never again cast doubt on the West's (don't they make tuna?) ever, ever again.
This isn't trolling, it fair comment. If it upsets you so much to know that not everybody
agrees with you view, just filter those offending people like jsimmons did.

It sounds so good they can't wait so they're in denial to be able to wait :)

I think your post makes too much sense too, hehe.

Thanks,

Agree 100% Doug.

Maybe it is simply terminology. Do they really mean a hoax? - to deceive us into
believing something that isn't true. I'm baffled by their motives in any
scenario where that is the case. Sure some could point at the history of WSC and
consider they could be over ambitious and not deliver, but a hoax? No way!

Like I said in an earlier post I am simply amazed ras as a collective are not
rejoicing in the split from Empire and a belief that the Wests can deliver for
our niche group that the developer/publisher relationship could not.

Doug,

I can't believe that you can still be taking this unsupported position.
So for the last time let me state my position as clearly as possible.

1- WSC was and still is vaporware. There is no sim nor playable demo.

2- The West Bros decided to sign a legal binding contract with Empire to
produce WSC within a speficied period of time. They failed to do that, and
finally Empire opted to terminate both of them. At this point there isn't
any reason why they can't explain their position of the Empire affair. Yet
there are those on RAS that still believe that the Wests just decided to
leave Empire because of constraints on what they wanted to do within WSC. No
one but the Wests and Empire know how much money was paid to the Wests to
complete this project, but it's clear that Empire came out the big looser.
What's more, the West Bros most likely were the ones that approached Empire,
not the other way around.

3- We were promised a workable demo after E3 2001. No demo was released. E3
2002 came and went without WSC, a workable demo, or the West bros being at
the Empire booth.

4- As for those fellow racers on VROC that actually drove a demo of WSC,
from what I read they were impressed with the graphics of both the cars and
the track. But the car didn't have a completed physics engine. I don't
believe that they could actually steer the car. Not one of them ever wrote a
review for all us to read and evailuate. Why, because the West Bros most
likely asked them not to.

5-So, after more then two years we dedicated simmers have nothing to show
for our faith or dedication to the Wests and WSC but egg on our virtual
faces. Now we're asked to go blindly down the same path again.

6-I see no rational reason to change my position of scepticism, which is not
a denial that the West Bros are working on a new sim based on WSC, rather
that I doubt, based on the above that we will see workable demo, let alone a
completed core sim by the end of the year, or worse, ever.

Why is it perfectly all right for you to take cheap shots anyone you

you believe in ?

The Wests could probably do with a bit more support and a bit less
cheerleading.

PS The problem for me is their site sells a concept, not a product. I wish
them the very best of luck.

Because Doug this is the same tune they sung with WSC.

Look I got on the WSC band wgaon big time when I felt dissappointed with
Nascar 3 from Papy.  I was so looking forward to the GPL physics in N3. But
it never happened. So this WCS thing seemed someone at last was gonna do
something worth while, and I waited patiently. Then nothing
It not so much that WSC failed. It's the "nothing" from the West's that I
have a problem with.
It's more the lack of common decency that they are not even bothering to
say...... sorry guys , thanks for your support but it (WSC) didn't work out
but we are gonna have a go at something else.  (WRL).

Yes they going to have a go at this WRL.  But it's the "nothing" after two
or so years of patience that prompted me to take  a wise crack.
