About 6 weeks ago I purchased a Thrustmaster Ferrari Force Feedback Wheel
and yesterday during an online league race the accelerator spring broke this
would be an easy item to fix if I could find a replacement spring but I have
already checked with local hardware and locksmith shops to no avail. One of
the reasons I chose the Thrustmaster was because of their good reputation in
online news groups for being willing to replace broken spring potentiometers
e.t.c. but when I called their tech support today I was told that they will
not be doing this with their new products and that I would have to send the
entire unit back and wait 4 to 6 weeks for a new one effectively putting me
out of contention in both of the leagues I run in ( not that my driving
ineptness doesn't already ) If you have been considering buying this wheel
based on the companies past reputation for service, be warned, they are
resting on their laurels. If any one knows another source for a replacement
spring please let me know. It is the spring which controls the angle of the
accelerator pedal.

Thank you for letting me vent

Hi Paul,

You can try making your own by wrapping a wire coat hanger around a
broom stick :)  You might try modifying it to use a typical long/summer
door style spring.

I have the same wheel and I love it (paddle shifters, normal shifter,
nice wheel feel, splix-axis), but springs will be springs :(

Jason.

I've given up on springs for pedal return.

I now use one of those bungee cords found in roofrack "spiders" ($5 at any
autoparts store). Just drill a hole through the stem of the pedal... hook in
one side "from behind" and secure with tie-wraps and hook the other end
around the front of the base. Pull the cord through "out the front" and tie
off at the desired resistance. 10 minute job.

I converted my TM NasPro pedals about 1 1/2 years ago and the bungees are
still going strong (springs lasted an average of 6 weeks before). I'm
confident I'll never hear the dreaded "twang" sound while competing online
again.

First Paul Thrustmaster is owned by Guillemot. I've got 10 new springs
sitting
right here & got them within a week for my Guillemot FF Ferrari Race Wheel.
I also forgot to tell them I need new right&left shifter paddles and they
are on
there way right now! I don't know who you talked with but if you call the
800
number on the Guillemot site & ask for ElaSandro he is always quick to meet
your needs.. Good Luck.. Thom_j.

That is a great idea!!   I was thinking along those lines but with a
better spring.  Sounds like a bungee would be easier to fit :)

Aaargh, just bought one!!!  Too late!!!  Still bungees had occured to me
too.  Yeah, those springs on the pedal angle do look feeble.  Not sure
how bungees could fix that.  Still my tennis balls feel good.  :)

You can get Thrustmaster parts here! And their T2 springs WILL work on
a T1. I know...I have tried it. ;-)
