AI does. If F1RC had AI that wasn't so prone to rear ending my car then I
might actually like it. Situational awarenes in sims is poor so the AI must
be made to not smack into my car if I should happen to brake a bit early -
realistic or not. The first EA F1 release had AI that tended to do that too,
but they soon fixed it with F1CS and F12001 and even released a patch for
the first F1 sim to improve it. Ubisoft, on the other hand, took my money
and dropped all support to make the game playable for me, even though they
promised a patch last April - must have been April 1st. That's why I won't
be buying F1RC2. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way either.

I think the F1 2001 controller setup sucks too, as do many other people.  Most
of us EVENTUALLY get it to work ok, but there seem to be a LOT more hoops to
jump through in EA titles... :(

Did you ever try those controller settings I suggested?

Yeh, I went all dizzy over F12001. But I still can't get the
controller settings to 'feel' right. I think John Bodin referred to
"dancing on the edge" for F12001 which if I remember right related
to your own viewpoint with F1RC. I'd go along with that. Like just
about every one else I put F1RC on hold awaiting the promised patch.
I still feel there is plenty of potential there, and also look
forward to F1RC2.

I'll admit to being as fickle as hell when it comes to racing sims -
any loyalty or principles fly out the window if a better experience
might be available! So I'll *** & moan about Ubisoft with the rest
of you whilst standing in the queue in EB. Some of you may be in the
queue ahead of me...

I have to fight for every minute I get to sim race, so no blind loyalty here
either. I don't care who makes it as long as it's good.

I don't dislike any developer either.........I just came home with N2002.
:-0 Who wants to race?

My controller sometimes doesn't work at all in F1RC, at least F12001 has AI
that can drive the track without crashing and EA did release a patch not
long after it' release, can't say the same for Ubisoft even almost a year
later.***'em, they don't give a damn and don't desreve my money.

I wouldn't say that. :-) The NASCAR cars are like steering a boat. Watkins
Glen seems fine to me, but I don't really know what I should be looking for
anyway. :-)

Seems excellent to me. No complaints or problems at all.

I'd rather I was driving an F1 or CART car around some of those tracks
though. I used to have a lot of fun racing CPR online. Why can't someone
from Papyrus give us a CART type car to have some fun with?

  http://cartheat.bhmotorsports.com/
many of the old CPR tracks are being converted to Heat, and tracks like Road
America run very well with the CART Heat mod.  (I've been pestering them for
Mid Ohio)  I think there is close to a dozen road courses available now for
the Heat mods.

A CART sim from Papy.. now there's an idea.. :))
These stockcars feel quite boring in the beginning, untill you start
to drive them on the limit.. but I guess that goes for every type of
car.. Even my Seat Arosa (STOP LAUGHING) is fun when driving it on
it's limits..

It doesn't have to be a complete sim. Just one car to use in practice and
online. Don't you think someone there has probably made one if only as an
experiment?

I am sure I read somewhere in the early development of GPL that the
physics engine was designed in such a way that the physics values of
other vehicles could be "fed in" to create new sims. Then it was the
job of the graphics developers to do the rest. Never quite
materialised as I hoped :-(

One question - on Nascar weekends what other series run? Especially
on the road courses! May be some scope for a Nascar approved addon.
(E.g. at an F1 weekend there are many other races series - Touring
cars, Porsches, shopping cars!, Historic etc.)

Ever optimistic!
