new N4 league / club racing

by jca.. » Sat, 30 Mar 2002 11:45:19

My cousin and I are gaging interest and thinking about starting a
somewhat informal (at least in the beginning) N4 racing league / club.
We both raced in a league that switched to N2002 and neither of us
were willing to make that switch yet.  After all, N4 is every bit as
good today as it was a month ago.  Now that there is less and less
racing on the public servers, and few N4 leagues remaining, we thought
we'd try to get one going.

If there is enough interest, and we can agree on a night (either
Wed or Thurs), we are willing to buy time on a blademan-net server.
In the beginning, we envision a quasi-league.  We can keep points and
standings, but won't be maintaining a website, cardepot, forum, setup
archive, or any other things that make some of the more established
leagues nice.  We just don't have the time right now, and would rather
be racing than administering a league.  As time goes on, and there
seems to be the interest and involvement, we can add those things
later.

Drivers of all skills are welcome.  The basic rules of all
leagues will apply.  We expect people to be relatively courteous of
one another, park it if you can't get around the track, and show up.
Other than that, we'll figure out the rest as we go along.  We plan on
running 35-45% races, yellow flags on, realistic damage, etc...  In
all likelihood, we'll run custom setups unless everyone wants to run
fixed, then we can talk about it.  Assume we'll stick close to the WC
schedule, and maybe race 4 weeks in row, take a week off, race 4
weeks, etc...  Wed and Thurs nights are really the only options,
although i suppose we could consider mondays if necessary.  The
evening schedule would look something like the following:

server up 7:00p central
qualifying 7:30p central
warmup 7:35p central
race 7:45p central

Races could be a little later if we have some people from the west
coast, but we like to get to bed by 10:30ish if we can so don't want
to start much later.

If you have any interest, please email me directlty at:

and let me know which night (wed, thurs, or both), what time works
best for green flag (7:30-8:00ish, 8:00-8:30ish, later), and how we
can reach you.  If we can get comitments from 10 or more people, then
we'll assume its a go.

thx for your interest,
jeff

You can easily keep points using NRLA 1.16 (Nascar Racing League
Administrator)

Just fill in a racing calendar and import the N4/NR2002 Standings HTML
file that you exported after the race.

http://www.pointsdomain.com

Too see it working in real life...

http://www.scprc.com/snn/standings.html
http://www.scprc.com/snn/16stats.html
http://www.scprc.com/snn/results.html

It will even create a schedule index page (haven't used that in awhile
though).

Jason.

new N4 league / club racing

Hi Jason,

He he... This is funny to see this post up here.  Thanks for letting guys
know about it.  I have a new version that I think is ready for release.
Release 2 has some new features.  It will not work with N3 or NL any longer.
Some of the new things it does are:

Assigns drivers to a class.  Therefor giving leagues the ability to have
various levels of drivers racing in a race, but only having them be scored
against racers in their class

You can have racer compete in divisions.  If you have too many drivers for
races, you can have races on different nights, and group those races into
divisions.  Standings will score for each individual division in the series,
and an overall standings for the entire series.  For example, you could have
80 drivers in your league, and run a single seried called "Pro", and then
have 2 divisions of "Pro 1, Pro 2, Pro 3 and Pro 4".  The races could be
held on 4 different nights, with 20 drivers running in each divionsion in
the series.  The OSCAR series is a good example of how that would work.

There's a few other feautes.  I just gotta make sure it's ready, then I'll
put it up on www.poointsdomain.com

For any of you that are using NRLA, don't hesitate to contact me if you have
any problems or questions
