leagues please send an email to me to get on a list
We will have a T1 up soon and will use latency maximums under 80+ to insure
warp free racing
This will require broadbandwidth
Thanks
Thanks
We have never pinged over 80 to the local T1s
Remember that its the requirement to join the host, obviously it will
fluctuate during the race
We just feel N4 is not suitable for analog modems thats all
We tested our cable modems joining several T1s from different parts of the
country, and pinged 110s and as soon as we got nose to tail there was
warping
If i am pinging to a server in the 200s i might as well not join it, because
i will warp
But not the case when its under 100
But mostly just we're looking for local guys who may want to meet each other
on a regular basis; people who share an equal desire for warp free racing

Again, the primary focus is for us to create a local environment
:)
I don't have broadband where I live (South of Raleigh, NC BTW) but I have a
dedicated server in my office and race on it from my 56k home dialup just
fine. I run my entire league from that dialup-to-server connection and our
only warp has come from a single DSL racer.(We have 5 guys on dialup BTW)
Don't fool yourself, less than 15% of the entire US has access to broadband,
and even then you will still have warp, I've seen it at LAN events. If
everyone in NC has broadband, then why is there a new Rural Internet Access
Authority working under the Rural Development office trying to get everyone
in NC at least a 256k copper line dialup service by the end of '03?

You should have simply said "No AOL or MSN dialups" as my Earthlink
connection is fine even when I race, even on left coast late night racing. I
stand by my point and thanks Eldred for the support, these "High Speed" only
groups really irk me thinking that "everyone" has access to broadband or
that all cable connects will be warp free.
So much for trying to hook up with other North Carolinians for some local
racing...

Stuff like Roger Wilco plays utter havoc with my ping *AND* quality.
Sometimes the ISP has a bad hair day, and even though my ping is 80,
the quality is way in the red.
I think you should give folks a chance to try out in a practice race,
and SEE if they have a solid connection, instead of cutting out
probably 2/3 of the good racers who might be interested in your league
just because they live many router-hops away.
And, just because the game seems OK to you, doesn't mean your car
isn't warping all over the place on everyone else's screen. Or so I
have been told.

A common trick with the Flight Sim boys was to SCREAM into the microphone
using Roger Wilco...this would so kill the framerate, that the screamer
could escape from even a guy in his Six oclock position.
I have a cable modem, great pings usually, but depending on net
conditions, I have been booted by N3 & N4 for having a bad connection. I'm
in two leagues...the Friday night one...even tho it is late West Coast time,
is awful. The Sunday Morning events are smooth as glass.
