Sports Car GT:ea vs gtinsider patch

There seem to be two patches available for SCGT.

The first in on the ea ftp server at
ftp://ftp1.ea.com/pub/ea/patches/sportscargt/scgt_patch.zip.
(the www.sportscargt.com site points to the wrong server so the links
to this file does not work from the sites page...)

The second is available at www.gtinsider.com at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

There are several differences between the two including the dates and
sizes of many of the files as well as the contents of the readme files.

Does anyone have any information about which one is authentic? better?
preferred?

Thanks,
Curt

They're supposed to be the same patch. When I did the earlier one, it
didn't put a few of the files in the proper directories, and they had
to be moved over manually. I wasn't the only one, either.
Maybe (hopefully), the "a" version corrects that.

The ea patch does put the files in the proper location because the
correct directories are contained in the zip file for each file.   The
confusing part is that the files in the zip are different....the ea
patch even has an extra file.

If you want to really improve SCGT, try the "Alldash" patch at GT
Insider (http://www.gtinsider.com), and add a bunch of the cars and
performance patches at Techware Motorsports (http://techware.4mg.com).
I finally got around to installing them yesterday and in combination
with the EA patch the sim is a lot more enjoyable.
