Tom,
Please don't take this the wrong way. I appreciate that you have a
genuine problem and that the manual doesn't explain it (for this
reason I have tried to answer your question below), but this topic has
been dealt with many, many times since GP2 was released (and probably
with a clearer explanation that I can give <g>). If people took the
time to check out the previous posts to r.a.s they would find that
many of their queries had already been answered.
Sorry for the lecture, but it is either this or simply skipping over
posts that deal with such repeated questions.
Anyway, to answer your question:
There are seven sets of tyres. They are shown on the display as:
0 0 0
r1 r2 r3 r4
r1 - r4 are the "race" tyres (though you're free to use them in
practice / qualifying). The three shown as "0" are intended for
practice and qualifying.
Use the steering wheel / left right keys/ joystick to move left and
right along the row and the brake / accelerator to move up and down
between the rows.
Once you have used a set of tyres, the "0" or "r1" etc will be
replaced by the number of laps that you have run on them.
NB: You'll start the race on the "r1" set of tyres, when you first pit
they'll be changed to the "r2" set and so on (so don't overuse these
tyres whilst qualifying <g>). After all 4 sets have been used the
program will automatically pick the set (out of all 7 sets) with the
least wear at any subsequent pit stops.
Cheers,
Richard
