Hi All:

I just started testing at Surfer's Paradise today.  I can't get any
traction with the "stock" settings.  What kind of wing settings are you
running???  You must have to crank 'em down from the stock settings in
order to get some traction...

Thanks in advance.

I think if you download a few of the outrageously fast hotlaps from the net
you will find that the most important section of Surfer's Paradise is the
final chicane on the back straight.  To go fast here, you have to find the
line which will let you fly through this chicane as fast as possible, probably
at 150+ mph.  Go ahead and get two wheels off as often as possible around
the track--from the hotlaps I've seen, the fastest way around depends on
using the grass liberally.  Good think there are no curbs!  Just browse the
web and you can find all sorts of great setups for the various tracks.

Yeah, it is very narrow especially through the chicanes. You have to get
two wheels on the grass for faster times. Forget taking them like the AI
does. I managed to turn a 1:29.XXX one time on qualifying setup. I have
heard people turning 1:25.XXX laps but it escapes me how they do it! Have
fun, Surfer's Paradise is a pretty fun course IMO.

I have managed to turn a *magical* lap at 1:11.XXX. I emphasize magical
as it seems it is a bug in the program. My second fastest lap was only
1:39.XXX!

Yeah, I ran a lap at around 1:16.xxx something including a crash.  I came
in too hot at the first chicane on the back straight, hit the wall kinda
weird exiting and found myself spinning crazily near the Marriot.  After
regaining my composure I took off for the S/F line, crossing the stripe
some 1:16+ after beginning the lap.  Of course, the teleport bug helped out
a bit... :-)  I can normally run about 1:30 in qualifying trim, but haven't
managed to crack 1:28 at all.

Gee, I guess I need to work on my set up some more...  I haven't been
able to break 1:46 yet.  Though I've only been playing for about two
weeks now.  I've got the AI cars set at 85% and they leave me in the
dust in the chicanes that I'm skating though.  Back to the garage!!!

I've viewed legitimate replays of drivers doing a lap at Surfer's in 1:16.XXX;
it can only be done with a flat-out banzai run through the double chicane.

My best is 1:34.XXX, but I haven't tried Surfer's since the patch.
